There are, of course, different types of psychological dependence, those exposed in the first part of the article are only the most common, and they have the role of example to understand the mechanism here. Of course, I do not pause to analyze all the forms of psychological attachment with which the human being is confronted. What interests us now is to understand that attachments and addictions are primarily psychological.
Then, once we understand this and their mechanism of action, we can also consider them from other points of view. To give a definition, we could say that psychological attachments are those past ties, created through repetition, which determine our subconscious mind to seek, in a way invisible to us, our own unhappiness. Although the person knows that what he does is not a good thing, he continues to repeat in an involuntary, mechanical way we could say, that action, that situation, that relationship, that way of thinking, thus strengthening his matrix. Modern psychology tells us that these attachments have their origins in childhood, in all those situations where as children, we have been subjected to a treatment that we experience as rejection, control or action. Attachments, under their different forms, therefore refer to these three broad categories: rejection, control, action. Personally, however, I believe that their sphere of origin and manifestation expands well beyond the period of childhood.
The adult, like the child, is able to constantly dynamize his subconscious in certain directions. The substantial difference is that the child, by its nature, is much more receptive than the adult. For example, a dry, cold, indifferent or hostile behavior can influence the psyche of the child or adult, who will then become a person full of lacks and emotionally unstable. A defective family or social relationship transmits and imprints in the individual negative elements to which the latter will become accustomed. Practically, attachments generate a form of dependence towards something negative but with a familiar air, and it is this familiar air that cancels the sense of reason. It is a kind of inner struggle between the spontaneous desire to be happy and the impulse of the subconscious that pushes us towards unhappiness. Unfortunately, most people are so robotic, they live such a mechanical life that they don't realize they are slaves of some attachments that make their lives a real hell. One suffers because of an attachment to something negative when one becomes aware of being "sick" and at the same time feels unable to come out of it, to be powerless against that situation; you live the attachment to something negative when you attract sick people and do everything to keep them close, when you realize inwardly a self-sabotage, when you have a critical inner voice that always makes you feel bad, when you have self-destructive tendencies.
Attachment can also be Karmic in nature, and this type of attachment can include debts to be paid to some people, bonds of love or, as the case may be, of hatred, whose sole purpose is to do experience of the other in order to be able to assimilate it, lessons to learn, that we live in the form of experiences that are repeated until we have understood their deep meaning. Returning to psychological dependencies, the mechanism by which these are formed, as I said before, is the dynamization of the subconscious through repetitive actions.
The subconscious in turn urges the individual to carry out those actions he has already assimilated. In the insemination phase of the subconscious the premises are created for the future psychological dependencies that generate suffering. This happens because of a lack of mental clarity, of the prevalence of the emotional level over the rational one, of the neurotic attitude with which they project themselves onto others of qualities that in reality do not exist, does not have them, yet we see them in him / her, and this for the simple reason that we need something and choose to believe that the thing we need is in another being, which makes it special, unique. In this sense it may be useful to understand what we are looking for, what we need, and to understand, however, that everything we need exists within us. Fundamentally, human beings continually seek happiness, manifested on a human level in different forms.
The various life situations, the experiences lived, the people we meet do nothing but activate within us what we already have. And essentially everything exists within us, we just need to become aware of it. Of course, when we talk about attachment, we must be honest and attentive and realize that behind every form of attachment there is still a hidden desire, a desire that takes the form of the person, the situation or the action to which one is attached. It is this desire that pulls us out of the state of rest because it puts us in motion, makes us work to get what we want, to get what we think we don't have and that we lack. The attachment, in this case, represents the desire to find an answer to a question of the soul, a soul that feels incomplete. This question arises from a false need for something, because we already have everything we need inside of us, but we are aware of this only when our soul is healthy, when we have not mutilated or fragmented it due to stupidity. All we need is to become aware of the divine presence within us, within it everything is already there. A healthy soul generates an inner experience of fullness.
