In every human being: in me, in you, in him, in every teenager, young, mature or old, a child is hidden. Childhood never dies: "it is the first beauty and the last dream". It can be forgotten completely but it can never be permanently lost. "Your daughter is not dead, she only sleeps," says Jesus to Jairus, the priest of the synagogue. Your childhood Jairus did not die, she is not dead yet nor can she ever die. The elder priest had sickened her daughter, and some members of the synagogue had even told him that she would die, but Jairus went to Jesus who told him: "Do not be afraid! You just have to believe and she will be saved. " We need not fear, we just have to believe that our childhood can be awakened. Whenever faith appears in my heart, in your heart, the love of the laughing child manifests itself again as a living proof of its eternity. The saints, the great sages, all the books of wisdom speak to us of the need to approach the great spiritual truths with a pure heart like that of a child. Whether we sense this thing or not, whether we understand it or not, it is absolutely necessary to come to live a similar childlike state within us, not necessarily relating to our childhood, but to the archetypal state of a child, with all that it implies and symbolizes.
We mention as often as possible the following image, which has the gift of dynamizing the state of child in our heart: It is a sunny summer day and we are a child walking through an arc of light. We feel light and free. We are not interested in the path on which we walk, as long as this path is oriented towards the sun. We look around with eyelashes soaked in light, we are light, free and bright. We know that someone takes care of us and for this reason we are deprived of any worries related to tomorrow. We do not think about what we will eat, what we will hear, where we will sleep. We have no problem, no worries. We are not tied to the past, for us there is only the present moment. We see everything around us as such, without making appreciations or considerations. There is no good or bad, beautiful or ugly, there is only light. We are not interested in possessing anything, accumulating things, having a social position. We simply exist, and we do not consider ourselves in a certain way. Let's compare this image with that of a saint full of light (which, in fact, we each want to become).
He knows he is the son of God, he knows that God takes care of him and will give him everything that is absolutely necessary to him. He remains indifferent to the opinion that people have about him, he can be in any way he wishes but, in essence, he always remains the same child of God. He is not interested in yesterday or tomorrow, he tries to live the identity with the Father here and now. For him there is no good or bad, beautiful or ugly, everything has a divine nature and therefore he sees things as they are, without cataloging them. He is pure, bright and free. This is why it is necessary to approach teaching with a heart similar to that of children, because becoming a saint means trying to live like a saint. The spiritual practitioner must very fervently desire to first obtain the state of candor in his heart, so that strength and purity and wisdom will accumulate in the body. The state of candor implies having a pure soul and not influenced by negative or destructive passions or emotions, such as sorrow, jealousy, hatred. Trying to adopt a similar state of candor, we will see with joy that all these negative states and emotions can no longer touch or influence us. Why? Because they are incompatible with the inner state of purity, which is very high. In practice, we will see that when we are confronted with such states, adopting a child's attitude will make them disappear instantly - and this will happen not through struggle, by opposing force, but through transcendence, by entering into one it was clearly superior, as if we were rising above the storm.
To approach the attitude of a child is an easy thing to do - we can start from the very fact of imagining (when, for example, our beloved tries to fight with us) to have very pure and bright eyes, with eyelashes soaked in light , evoking the previous image, and almost instantly the one who is angry lightens. We will discover how an infinite light invades us practically instantaneously and we will feel very light and free. The state of candor and purity is linked to Vishuddha chakra, and very few beings come to have this dominant center of force in their being and therefore to situate themselves on this level of consciousness. For many it may be surprising that at the level of Vishuddha chakra appears, together with this child state, also the awakening of intuition, the opening towards higher knowledge and the unification of the three temporal dimensions (past - present - future) in a single eternal present. A child is not bound or determined by the past through nostalgic memories, happy or obsessive, the past is present for him in this instant through his own existence as such, so the past exists only to the extent that it is condensed in himself. And in the same way, the future does not represent a certain direction, a linked succession of desired events or achievements, but represents the plenary development and extension of the present moment. What we want to emphasize is the fact that, beyond any logical or intellectual consideration, beyond all the techniques we know to transcend time, to approach the inner attitude of candor, of the state of the child, will make us reach this transcendence of time in an incredibly easy way. However, it is essential not to look for this realization in itself, as if it were something to be conquered, but to look at it as if it were a normal state, that belongs to us by right and that we will spontaneously find, through a sort of inner magic shot, through the discovery of archetypal childhood. Here are some characteristics of the ideal child that it would be good to do ours: he does not lie, he eats only when he needs it and he is hungry, he does not accumulate useless things, he plays without being attached to toys, he is tireless, he can abandon any worry and immediately start another one with total concentration, he shares his candies with other children, sees everything as if it were a game, does not care about tomorrow, and above all - he is happy. "Let the children come to me, do not stop them, because they are the Kingdom of Heaven ". With whom did Jesus speak when he spoke these words? With his disciples: Pietro, Giovanni, Giacomo, Matteo, Filippo, Andrea, Tommaso ... If even they did not understand what it means to be a child, then we ask ourselves with justified fear: can we understand more? Trying to awaken the status of a child in our hearts is a necessity, because it means to BE primarily. It is an inexpressible inner peace that nobody and nothing can take away from us, and that makes us have a luminous look and a smiling face, making us feel light and free. Jesus often referred directly to the state of a child, as when he spoke to Nicodemus, or in an allegorical manner, as when he raised the daughter of Jairus. For Jesus the state of a child is identical to that of heaven: "They are the Kingdom of Heaven" - he said as he embraced the children who had come to see him, and this practically says it all. When he had to teach the apostles a lesson about humility, Jesus again referred to the state of a child that incorporates these attitudes in an admirable way. "The apostles asked Jesus which of them was the greatest. Jesus, who knew the thought of their heart, took a child, placed him next to Him and said: "Whoever receives this child (the state of a child or the state of candor in the heart), it is Me who receives, and who receives Me automatically receives the one who sent me. Because the smallest of you is the greatest ". Often Jesus insisted that we all felt like children of God. Not by chance he calls God - thus emphasizing the infinite love with which He surrounds us. Evoking the state of candor, we will gradually come to rediscover our feeling of affiliation with the Divine (Yogananda).
This will awaken within us an immovable faith, based on the direct perception of the Divine, which is equivalent to very high mystical states. The lived permanent and intense of the fact that we are children of God will not only help us, but even represent a practical mode of evolution (similar to KARMA YOGA). Paradoxically, through this attitude we will discover that we are much stronger, but not as if we were giants defined by our strength: we have an amazing ability to act with gigantic energies thanks to the fact that we are above them (what which is technically explained by access to the causal level). Furthermore, this attitude gives immense joy and happiness, a permanent state of security and optimism, the feeling of being protected. And we will see how we will become even wiser, we will understand things that were inaccessible to us before, because we begin to actually live within us the spiritual truths.
It is amazing to see how many inner realizations can be achieved concretely, simply by approaching the attitude of candor, and therefore the fact that this attitude is so often forgotten is blamable. All the things we have talked about so far can be experienced by anyone, certainly recognizing that in the beginning it takes effort, permanent vigilance, but over time we will see that it will always be easier. We must never forget that spiritual realization does not mean knowing from others, understanding or accepting something as true, but being ourselves to live inwardly the wonderful things they have talked about, and even be able to discover others. It is therefore essential to live in an authentic way also this state of candor, which is even a sort of "shortcut" which, if traveled consciously, will protect us from many useless efforts or vain attempts. As a warning: we must not confuse candor with infantilism or weakness and we must never forget how unbearable children are!
