Let’s just think of some popular ways of saying like "if I don't see it I don't believe it", "see it to believe it", "did you see it?", "Did you ever see!?", "out of sight, out of mind "," beautiful eyes, beautiful heart", " the eyes are the reflection of the soul", " take a look ", "long time no see ", etc. They all refer to the eyes and to the sight and their importance is evident. The same does not happen as well with the other sense organs and the corresponding senses, as confirmation of the fact that even popular wisdom gives the eye and sight a particular importance for human life. It is therefore essential to keep them in an excellent state of functioning and health. A healthy eye that sees well transmits good, clear and clean information to all body systems and to our soul. Unfortunately, due to multiple factors (environmental, climatic, food, routine, etc.), nowadays we find an impressive number of people with vision problems. Most of the time, these alterations reflect hidden and deeper problems that can be successfully treated if the right approach is chosen.
The subtle anatomy of Yoga teaches us that the vision is directly connected and influenced by the activity of Manipura Chakra, and therefore by the energy of the inner fire. If you also suffer from eye diseases or have been wearing glasses for years, know that eye health can be regained by harmonizing and energizing Manipura Chakra, following a healthy and balanced diet and practicing a series of specific eye exercises with perseverance and persistence, including those described below. I therefore invite you to start working on it.
The exercises we describe are simple and effective, they can be practiced anywhere (at home, in the office, in nature...), the important thing is to choose the right time and place in order not to be interrupted (telephone, intercom, people curious to see what you are doing, pets...).
Let's begin. Sit with your spine straight, possibly on a chair. This is the right position to practice the following exercises.
1. Rub your hands for 15 seconds and then rest them on your face, palms in front of your eyes, for another 15 seconds.
2. Make a light and soft circular massage on the lower eyelids with the fingertips of the middle fingers. Then, with the ring fingers, massage the eyebrow area the same way.
3. Lightly press your eyebrows upwards with the index fingers. Keep them raised and simultaneously try to close your eyes half way. Try to do it in a relaxed manner. Keep them like this for at least 15 seconds. You will probably feel a slight flickering of the upper eyelids but focus on keeping them immobile. Conclude by closing your eyes for a few seconds and imagine your eyelids as if they were made of soft silk. Breathe deeply.
4. Orient the gaze, in a slight convergent strabismus, towards the root of the nose, between the eyebrows. Stay focused, staring at this point for 3 minutes and 30 seconds. Then, watch for 5 seconds in front of you and focus your gaze on the tip of your nose for another 3 minutes and 30 seconds.
5. Imagine a large square in front of your eyes or, if you prefer, put yourself in front of a window. Concentrate on the corners of the imaginary square or window for 5 seconds, in sequence. Start with the top left corner (5 sec.) and proceed by going to the bottom left (5 sec.) then to the bottom right (5 sec.), the top right (5 sec.) and go forward for 5 times. Now do the same thing in the opposite direction, to the right, always 5 seconds per corner. Now draw an imaginary cross in the square or window. Maintain concentration, with your eyes open, first up (5 sec.), then down (5 sec.), then right (5 sec.) and then left (5 sec.). Repeat this cycle 5 times.
6. Close your eyes and tighten the muscles of the eye globes for 5 seconds, then relax everything and open your eyes. Repeat 15 times.
7. Close and open your eyes (blinking) 20 consecutive times.
8. Draw a circle with your eyes, in front of you, with a twisting motion of your eyes. Do it 15 times. Start towards the left, then 15 more times towards the right.
9. Now, with your gaze, draw the number 8 horizontally; do it 15 times, widely, first to the left and then to the right.
11. Close your eyes and try to blink (keeping your eyes closed) 20 times.
12. Rub the palms of your hands again and then place them on the eye area, this time for about 30 seconds.
13. Imagine again a large square in front of you or stand in front of a window. You will travel through different points with your eyes, this time without stopping on each single point. Start with the cross, high, low, right, left. Repeat 5 times. Look in front of you and close and open your eyes 5 times consecutively. Now, make with the glaze a diagonal trajectory, from the lower right corner to the upper left corner and back. Then from the lower left corner to the upper right corner and back. Repeat each trajectory 15 times.
14. Focus on a fixed point in front of you no more than 3 meters away (a spot on a wall, on a tree, on a door...). Stare at this point for about 20 seconds. Then, locate a point in the air, which is halfway between you and the spot on the wall. Stay focused on this imaginary point for another 20 seconds. Finally, look at the tip of the nose for another 20 seconds. Repeat the whole cycle 20 times, shortening it every few seconds, until you get to complete the whole route, with stops of only one second for each point. Now repeat the exercise 10 times, stopping one second per point.
15. Finish the exercises by repositioning your palms on the eye area for another 3 minutes. To achieve remarkable and lasting results, I suggest you practice this series of exercises daily (better twice a day) for a minimum period of 3 months.
Always remember that health is the best thing you can have and that happiness is closely related to your health.
